They do say house moving is one of the most stressful things you can do (whoever "they" are) and one of the reason is the changing time scales. We understand that and we don't make you commit to a certain date. You can reserve a room without telling us when you'll us it, that way you have peace of mind that your storage is sorted. We don't require any notice before you start using your space which is why we offer the reservation process just in case we run out of rooms and that certainly does happen from time to time. The minimum amount of time you can store is fourteen days, although you can stay for less you just need to pay for that period of time. We also only need fourteen days notice when you come to move out. That way you can store with us if you are going to be in between house. Often you might have to be out of your current home before your next one is ready. Our costs become very affordable when you haven't got rent or a mortgage to pay!
It's hard for a potential buyer to imagine living there when a house is full, free it up (and paint it in neutral colours we're told) and it's like a blank canvas. They can then picture themselves living their. Some store a few boxes, clearing up mantle pieces and shelves, along with a couple of chairs (making their dining room look bigger) and a few other items to reduce the clutter in there home. Other people store whole room contents to turn that box room in to an extra bedroom. Thankfully we don't work on a one-size-fits-all policy, we have a variety of sizes to suit different needs.
As soon as it gets to May we start to get many enquiries from students as we're close to the university. This means the smaller rooms tend to fill up quickly around this time as you might imagine. The smallest size we currently offer is the twelve square foot. This is about the size of a red telephone box, with the rooms being 7 feet high. The next size up from that is thirty square feet, which is about the size of a small garden shed. This would take a desk and chair and/or a push bike with some boxes. If you're looking to store a sofa you would looking at fifty square foot plus.
