  4. Drive them to site yourself or arrange for a removals firm / white van man (we can recommend some if you need advice).
  5. Fill your unit.
  6. Lock your unit (you hold the only key).
  7. Access your items as often and whenever you want.

Here at UK Storage Company, security is a very high priority. All locations have state of the art CCTV, which is in operation 24 hours a day. Access to the majority of our locations is via a secure PIN code which operates the gate and/or the security door(s). 

All rooms are secured using brand new, highly specialised locks, and the customer is the sole key holder. 

All locations that are within a building have fire and smoke alarm systems throughout. 

 

You can move to a larger or smaller room without penalty and start paying the new rate straight away – as long as we have availability of course.

We don't require any notice when you need to rent a room from us (but it's always best to contact us first to make sure that we have the space available). You can reserve a room in advance, and your chosen start date is flexible, should your plans change.

When you no longer require your storage room, we ask for just 14 days notice.

As long as you want – as long as you pay of course!

You pay four weeks in advance and every 4 weeks (28 days) after that. Your initial payment needs to be by credit/debit card, or with a bank transfer (our Bridgwater site accepts cash). Unfortunately we no longer accept cheques.

It’s general common sense but you can store most things, except:

  • Food or perishable goods.
  • Compressed gasses.
  • Toxic, pollutant or contaminated goods.
  • Firearms, munitions or explosives.
  • Radioactive materials.
  • Chemicals or biological agents.
  • Flammable or hazardous goods.
  • Any item emitting fumes, odour or smell.
  • All living plants or animals.
  • Cash and securites.
  • Fireworks.
  • Illegal goods and stolen goods.
  • Waste, asbestos or potentially dangerous materials.

At UK Storage Company we understand the importance of the items you store with us. All our locations are built with security in mind, and every measure has been taken to protect your goods while they are with us. Unfortunately, some scenarios may arise that we simply cannot anticipate, such as a fire or a flood. For this reason, we need to be absolutely certain that all goods are fully insured while they are stored with us. We will not allow a customer to store goods that are not insured at all times.


How can I insure my goods?

UK Storage Company provide comprehensive insurance cover that has been specifically designed for self-storage. It covers more perils than a standard household policy and offers additional protection to your valuable items should the unthinkable happen. Your policy is valid whilst your goods are stored within your storage room.  There is no cover provided for the period of loading, unloading and transit. As the policy we provide is not connected to your household insurance, any claim does not affect your premium, nor will it affect any no claims discount you may have accrued.


What does our insurance cover?

The protection that we offer covers actual physical loss of or damage to our customers property caused by: Fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, storm, flood, bursting &/or leaking pipes, ingress of water or other liquid substance, aircraft or articles dropped there from, moth, insect or vermin from an external cause, theft accompanied by forcible and violent entry to or exit from the building or unit, riot, strike, civil commotion, malicious damage and impact by vehicles or railway rolling stock.


What level of insurance should I take?

The level of insurance that our customers take can vary greatly, depending on what items are stored. Your items must be insured for their true, total replacement value. If you fail to declare the full replacement value of your property on the Licence Agreement, in the event of a claim you will only be entitled to recover from Insurers the proportion of the loss as the declared value bears to the total replacement value of your property. You can cancel a reservation at any time prior to the date of move in. The full reservation fee will be refunded back to the credit or debit card it was originally paid on.

 

The transaction will be reversed and may take up to 10 working days to appear in your account. UK Storage Company are unable to refund on to a card other than the credit or debit card that was originally used. UK Storage Company do not store any card details. Where this agreement has terminated, and you have paid more of our fees and charges than are due at the termination date, we will refund the balance to you after deduction of any payments due to us. The rental portion of our fees will be refunded to you, less any charges. Refunds in this instance will be made on to the same card that payments had been made from, or if payments are made via Direct Debit, refunds will be made via Direct Credit in to the same bank account. Direct Credits and card refunds can take up to 10 working days to be made.

The unit we rented was very clean and so was the whole site, there's even a loo inside which I thought was a real nice touch. The whole place is extremely secure with two secure doors at the main entrance that require a pass code, then once in the building you have your own lock for the unit you rent which you buy when you rent the unit to insure no other person could possibly have a key, at first this seemed strange and a waste of money but I get it now, you keep the lock when you vacate the unit too so I suppose if you rent again you will already have a lock. There's plenty of heavy duty trolley trucks to move your stuff on too so that's good. This is such a good idea these self storage lockers, I wish I'd had one 30 years ago when I moved house. There's plenty of different sizes to choose from. We rented a unit in the Wigan branch recently when my daughter moved house and it takes a bit of the stress out of the whole process. Should I need one in the future I won't hesitate to rent again.

Every aspect of this rental process was so easy. I live a long way from the site and was arranging storage for my parents. Quick telephone conversation, all my questions answered, two units booked. Just ahead of our arrival date, confirmation and payments made. Arrived on site, everything as arranged, great clean units. During unloading we realised we did not have enough space, called UK storage (on a Sunday) They called me back within half hour and had found another unit on site. Leaving was just as straight forward, called to give notice, confirmed date left units partway though a month, refunded extra payments. If you want clean in and out storage, dealing with helpful nice staff, these guys are for you! Cannot recommend highly enough. From someone who does not generally do reviews, I hope you get my drift .......
